Recently there has been a massive hype about Matte lipsticks
and I have been one of those people going crazy for them. I can’t seem to find
a brand that has a Matte lipstick that doesn’t dry your lips out – if you guys
know any please do tell! Anyway the other day I came across an article saying
to put talcum powder on any lipstick to turn it Matte, I didn’t believe it
would work and so I thought I would give it a go myself.
I’m not the best at applying lipstick so please excuse the
odd smudge here and there.
I thought I’d give it a go with the more bold colours as I
thought the results would show up more than a pink or nude colour. I first
tried with a bright red by L’Oreal, I tipped some talcum powder onto the back of my hand and
just used my index finger and dabbed away at my lips. At first it came up quite white but the more you
dab the more it went away and then alas I had matte lips.
The texture itself isn’t
the nicest of feelings however it is quite smooth and for a quick fix
alternative it’s not that bad. It also means that you can continue using your
favourite colours and if you’re saving/ budgeting like me you don’t have to go
out and buy a whole new range of lipsticks – no matter how much you may want
too.
I also tried this with a darker colour, Revlon Super
Lustrous Lipstick in the colour Va Va Violet, and I found it worked a lot
better with this colour than it did the red which I am assuming it’s because it’s
a lot darker and so the difference is more noticeable.
For reference any pictures used on this post are free from
filters and are completely natural with the exception of the use of flash because it was late evening when I did this.
Let me know if you have tried this and if you have any tips
on applying lipstick better – I was never any good at colouring within the
lines.
